“This is my beloved and this is my friend,” Song of Solomon 5:16 (ESV)

This is one of my favorite verses about marriage! Date night is a practical way we grow in liking and loving one another!

What do you like to do on date night?

Moving around the U.S. gave us both seasons of plenty and seasons of want for date nights. Big cities offered many options while smaller towns we lived in had fewer offerings, so we connected through walks or searching for the best pizza around, or doing an outdoor sport together.

The common thread we come back to every time is this: Date nights are always elevated to the next level when we spend a portion of the time asking and answering intentional questions.

At the beginning of this year, our marriage goal was to show up for every date night with one intentional question to ask each other. It helps keep our marriage top of mind as we consider a new question throughout the week.

It’s also fun to share the context of how we came up with our question. That alone is a great conversation starter! Sometimes ours come from a lesson in Scripture, a talk with a friend, or ideas from a podcast. Every time, it has been a highlight of the evening.

Do you want a sample list of questions we have asked each other so far this year? If so, make sure you join our email list before April 10th to receive ten intentional questions for your next date night.

As always, I hope these questions inspire your own practical chats for intentional living!

Much love,

Laura
