Five Questions to Ask Your Kids to Replace "How Was Your Day"
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV)
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
I love how straightforward these verses are! What can you rejoice in today? What is going through your mind or is heavy on your heart to pray for in this moment? What are you thankful for today?
I am rejoicing as our kids currently love school and are excited about their friends and teachers. My prayer is for full health to be restored in our family. And without fail, every school year, I become more and more grateful for chatty kids! I love hearing the details of their day while we were apart and I think it’s great practice for them to reflect and articulate experiences and the accompanying emotions of their day.
Our daughters typically like to chat right after school, but more information comes out over dinner and still more details pour out at bedtime.
Regardless of the time of day you connect best with your kids, I wanted to share a few open-ended questions we like asking each other to spark more connecting conversation. I recommend trying one of these questions each day after school.
I would love to know what questions generate the richest conversation in your household! Which questions do you like to ask your kids?
I hope these questions become a practical application of 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 as we do this together now:
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
Much love,
Laura
